- Our Garden -

Our farm is a vehicle for the delivery of our education programming. We believe in hands-on experiential learning. We believe fresh air and dirt are good for the soul as well as the attention span. We believe there is joy in learning. We believe in the importance of passing on agricultural knowledge to the next generation. We want to share these beliefs with your children and your groups. Come Learn, Grow, and Give with us!

Powering Our Planting

Thanks to the hard work of two great volunteers and the HDR Foundation, we now have a solar panel which powers two of our high tunnels.

Our solar panel powers two things:

  1. Motorized rollers raise and lower the sides of each house allowing airflow to our crops.

  2. Opening and operating powered fans at the tops of each house entrance allow a beneficial breeze to pull out hot air.

This helps us to minimize the man hours needed to monitor the house temperatures and gives us the freedom to use our time elsewhere.

Produce Programs

We have several programs we implement to get our produce into the community:

CSA:

Community Supported Agriculture is a membership program to the farm. For an upfront payment, members get a share of all crops during the CSA season. Spots are limited to ensure produce availability. More information can be found on our CSA page.

Market Booths:

We host booths at local farmers markets through the height of the growing season. Sign up for our weekly market updates to find out what types of produce will be available for purchase at our booths!

Online Market:

Our online market is live Thursday through Tuesday with current selections of available produce. Delivery only to residents of Grosse Ile, Trenton, and Riverview. Visit our Market page to find out more.

Farm to Pantry Program:

Our Farm to Pantry Program gets our fresh, local, and organically grown produce onto pantry shelves to feed community members in need in the downriver area. Nearly year round, we donate a portion of our produce to local organizations and food banks. In 2022, Community Grown Gardens donated over 2,500 lbs. of produce to local charities and food banks.

Restaurant Delivery:

Available to local restaurants that would like to utilize our produce in their dishes. Each of these partnerships are unique. Call us for more information.
