Gardening simply does not allow one to be mentally old, because too many hopes and dreams are yet to be realized.

Our Mission

Teach. Grow. Give.

Our non-profit, Community Grown Gardens, provides inclusive education opportunities, engages community, and addresses food insecurities through year-round urban agriculture.

Teach

We can teach, grow, and give throughout the school year. We are grateful for the hoop house technology that allows us to connect agricultural learning to the traditional school calendar. In addition to schools, community members and groups are encouraged to join us in the learning and sharing of our skills.

Grow

Our organization is more of an urban farm than a garden. We cultivate the earth using sustainable growing techniques that focus on increased production in small spaces. This year we anticipate 16,000 pounds of produce will be grown on less than an acre of land.

If not donated, our food is sold locally to restaurants, CSA members, our online market, and summer farm markets.

Give

Currently, 1/4 of our produce is donated to local charitable organizations that feed those in need. In addition to donating food, we intend to lessen the impact of food insecurities in our communities by teaching gardening skills. Change comes from the investment in, education of, and access to healthy food.

Future Plans…

There are so many things that we consider possible through our organization. We are truly excited to see what parts blossom as we grow. Your input and the needs of the communities that surround us are what will drive our future development. Some things we are considering:

K-5 healthy eating curriculum

Horticulture therapy

Multi-site expansion

Crop diversity to extend learning and event opportunity

Culinary farm-to-table education

Your thoughts, energies, and connections will help guide us. Please consider sharing your input on our contact page.
